Coming soon

Florida is coming to Hometown Line

You’re in the right place, and the whole site is open to you. We only show scores a state’s association lets us read and credit, and Florida’s aren’t readable yet. Here’s how Rickards gets on, and how to play in the meantime.

Play this Friday anyway

Every game on the board is open to you, in any state. Call the week’s biggest games, or follow a state next door.

Getting Rickards on the site

Florida isn’t published yet. The FHSAA's schedules and scoreboard are MaxPreps, which we do not use, and its own site allows no reuse without written permission.

In the meantime, a coach, athletic director or team manager can put a school’s season on the site through the Team Desk, and the letter below still asks them to publish.

Ask them

Write to Florida High School Athletic Association or your school's athletic director. Address it to the association’s office or your athletic director — the contact page on their site has it.

Subject: Schedules and scores for Florida high-school football

Dear Florida High School Athletic Association,

I am a fan of Rickards. I follow the season on Hometown Line (hometownline.com), a free game of skill and prediction for high-school football. There is no money in it: readers predict results and are scored on how well they read the games.

Florida is not on the site yet because Florida High School Athletic Association does not publish schedules and scores of its own; they sit on a third-party scoreboard whose terms allow no reuse. I am writing to ask that Florida High School Athletic Association publish its schedules and scores itself, or as a feed, so that any site may read and credit them. Hometown Line credits Florida High School Athletic Association on every game.

Thank you for considering it.

Yours sincerely,
A supporter of Rickards

The programme

Notable alumni
12 in all, 10 of them in football
Counted from the school’s own article, which lists people notable enough to have been written up. A programme with none has not produced none.

Everything above comes from Rickards’s own article — except the few lines that name a different one — and is real. Hometown Line also runs a scoring model over Florida high school football. Every prediction it makes is the model’s own. Where Florida publishes a schedule the site may read, the games ahead are that schedule; where it does not, the fixtures ahead are generated so the model has something to predict. A result is shown only where its source is named.
