Coming soon

Michigan is coming to Hometown Line

You’re in the right place, and the whole site is open to you. We only show scores a state’s association lets us read and credit, and Michigan’s aren’t readable yet. Here’s how Detroit Catholic Central gets on, and how to play in the meantime.

Play this Friday anyway

Every game on the board is open to you, in any state. Call the week’s biggest games, or follow a state next door.

Getting Detroit Catholic Central on the site

Michigan isn’t published yet. The MHSAA keeps schedules and scores on a server that asks automated readers to stay out, so we have not read it.

In the meantime, a coach, athletic director or team manager can put a school’s season on the site through the Team Desk, and the letter below still asks them to publish.

Ask them

Write to Michigan High School Athletic Association or your school's athletic director. Address it to the association’s office or your athletic director — the contact page on their site has it.

Subject: Schedules and scores for Michigan high-school football

Dear Michigan High School Athletic Association,

I am a fan of Detroit Catholic Central. I follow the season on Hometown Line (hometownline.com), a free game of skill and prediction for high-school football. There is no money in it: readers predict results and are scored on how well they read the games.

Michigan is not on the site yet because the schedules and scores are published in a way that does not allow another site to read them. I am writing to ask that Michigan High School Athletic Association allow Hometown Line to read the schedules and scores it already publishes, or publish them as a feed. The site reads only what it is allowed to, identifies itself, and credits Michigan High School Athletic Association on every game.

Thank you for considering it.

Yours sincerely,
A supporter of Detroit Catholic Central

Everything above comes from Detroit Catholic Central’s own article — except the few lines that name a different one — and is real. Hometown Line also runs a scoring model over Michigan high school football. Every prediction it makes is the model’s own. Where Michigan publishes a schedule the site may read, the games ahead are that schedule; where it does not, the fixtures ahead are generated so the model has something to predict. A result is shown only where its source is named.
